Road to Banff, Tunnel Mountain and Downtown

(My solo road trip of western Canada – Sunday 20th September)

Driving to Banff was truly incredible, very exciting and I was experiencing a mix of emotions.  I had heard so much about Banff and there was so much to do and explore.

As I started my drive from Calgary, you can make out the Rockies in the distance, its at this time you feel its true and the journey has begun! Although my family is absent, this is a dream come true for me to be able to drive through the famous Rockies!

Below shows the sun rising over the spectacular three sisters mountain peaks…

Banff is a town within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. It is located in Alberta’s Rockies along the Trans-Canada Highway, approximately 126 km (78 mi) west of Calgary and 58 km (36 mi) east of Lake Louise.

TUNNEL MOUNTAIN

At an elevation of 1,400 m (4,600 ft) to 1,630 m (5,350 ft),[3] Banff is the community with the second highest elevation in Alberta after Lake Louise.  The photo below shows a friendly but very curious local!

Banff is a resort town and one of Canada’s most popular tourist destinations, known for its mountainous surroundings and hot springs.

It is a destination for outdoor sports and features extensive hiking, biking, scrambling and skiing areas within the area. Sunshine Village, Ski Norquay and Lake Louise Mountain Resort are the three nearby ski resorts located within the national park.

DOWNTOWN BANFF

Want to keep warm with some Muskox clothing and accessories?

Very cool local public transport, just the way they look makes you want to ride on one.

If you have a few spare pennies or cents as they say in Canada, you could indulge yourself in buying a property surrounded by absolutely beautiful nature.
